worm grunting -- design notes

i first started creating worm grunting as a way to practice learning new coding languages. i've known html and css for about 12 years, and as much as i tried to learn javascript when i was younger, it never clicked. work was slow, and i had nothin but a computer and free time, so i figured fuck it, time to learn.

the game started out super basic with just a handful of variables under the name "clicker game", just thrown together to get a basic framework down. At the time there were 2 upgrade categories, "upgrades" and "new upgrades". super unique and thought provoking, i know. about 2 hours of writing later, i gave the game it's worm based theming -- a trend you'll notice as you go through my work.

javascript is hard. and it kinda sucks. it takes everything extremely literally and a single bug that causes a minor UI failure or an annoying localstorage failure can take days to figure out, and you're lucky if a stray comma doesn't break the entire site. but im extremely happy with how much it's taught me. working on that project has been the primary way of self-teaching myself a whole new language (don't even get me started on json and php), and has given me the knowledge to make my dream site (you're looking at it right now lol)
